A food-market route through Batumi

Start in the morning at the Central Market around Mayakovsky Street. Look for seasonal fruit, herbs, cheese, spices, nuts, and homemade products. Then transfer to the Fish Market at the northern exit from the city; walking between the two means following busy, unpleasant roads. A taxi takes roughly 10–15 minutes without heavy traffic.

At the Fish Market, choose the fish first and take it to one of the neighbouring restaurants. The fish and the cooking service are separate charges; agree on the weight, preparation, and total before handing the purchase to the kitchen. Allow 2.5–4 hours for both markets and lunch. For the broadest selection of catch, arrive before midday.
