Mariamoba 1924 brings to light the harrowing fate of two families during the tumultuous 1924 uprising, vividly illustrating the brutality of Soviet purges. Drawn from documented accounts and real diaries, the play reveals how the Red Army’s crackdown tore apart noble households and marks the painful beginning of a new era. Experience this powerful story brought to the stage on March 11 and 12 at Sokhumi State Drama Theatre. The creative team features Alexander Kantaria as both playwright and director, with Giorgi Sultanishvili curating the music, set design by Ana Berishvili, costumes by Nisa Samadbegishvili, choreography by Kote Purtseladze, and Leila Murghulia as production manager. The talented cast includes Ana Leveneci, Nino Lomidze, Nino Abesalashvili, Giga Kakubava, Elene Darchia, Davit Gurgenadze, Zuka Papuashvili / Buka Tolordava, Megi Peradze, Kakhi Gazdeliani, and Lasha Tsiklauri. The performance is presented in two parts, with a total running time of 2 hours. Suitable for ages 12 and up.
