Experience the legendary tale of Betkili, a courageous Svan hunter, brought to life through wordless theater and shadow play at the Mestia Culture and Art Center. This mimodrama, under the direction of Kakha Bakuradze with music by Sandro Nikoladze, follows Betkili’s journey from his family traditions to a fateful encounter with Tamari and the captivating goddess Dali. The story unfolds through expressive movement, making it universally understandable. Based on a play by Eva Margiani and premiered in 2020, the production captures sublime moments from Svan folklore, including Betkili’s tragic love and mythical transformation. The cast features Data Filpan, Gegi Paliani, Mariam Naveriani, Salome Japaridze, Nana Kakhiani, Mariam Mchedliani and others. Join us in Mestia at 3 Benqu Khergiani Street on February 22 or 24, 2026.
