Storyless Blead - Clowning and Pantomime Theatre Performance

Sun, Jun 14 · 18:00 Movement Theatre

Storyless Blead is a 44-minute solo performance by The Unified Theatre, featuring Blead, a clown navigating a world of plastic waste, drowned children, and memories. Guided by a magic shoe yet determined to control his own fate, Blead faces life's challenges symbolized by 'cats and dogs,' honking horns, and inner voices urging conformity, which he resists. Seeking solace in past love, he tends a small tree of life in his pocket, symbolizing both hope and mortality. The show uses gibberish and pantomime, encouraging spectators to fill the voluntary voids with their own emotions and images. It tackles serious social and environmental themes through clowning and physical storytelling. Created by Sadok Aidani, a Tunisian actor and director with international experience, and Abderahmen Cherif, a theatre and cinema director from Tunisia, the piece has been performed 35 times in Tunisia and featured in six international festivals, earning one award and two nominations. The Unified Theatre, founded in 2020, emphasizes original dramatic work and community engagement, focusing on a new scenic grammar where the actor's body is the primary narrative instrument.
