Film Screening: "Searching for Sugar Man" (Malik Bendjelloul, 2012)

Thu, Jul 2 · 22:00 Tbilisi

We present to you an incredible, almost detective-like story about one of the most mysterious musicians of the 20th century.

In the early 1970s, American folk musician Sixto Rodriguez released an album that went completely unnoticed in his homeland, after which the artist literally disappeared over time. But miraculously, his songs reached South Africa, where Rodriguez suddenly became a true legend, a symbol of freedom and the voice of an entire generation — more popular than The Rolling Stones. The musician himself was unaware of this.

The Oscar-winning documentary tells the captivating journey of two devoted fans from Cape Town who try to uncover what really happened to their idol's fate. It is a touching, inspiring story about talent, remarkable humility, and the true magic of music.

The screening will be in the original language (English) with Russian subtitles.
