Swap the city shore for a day at Sarpi Beach
Sarpi is chosen for its setting: green slopes reach a pebble shore beside the border crossing’s unusual tower. It is not a secluded cove—the highway runs behind the beach and the border operates around the clock—but the water often looks clearer than in central Batumi.
From the city, take a bus or marshrutka marked Gonio, Kvariati, or Sarpi in the airport direction and confirm that it continues to the final stop. The trip takes about 35–60 minutes. For the return, use the stop on the Batumi-bound side; intervals can be longer in the evening. Sarpi combines easily with Gonio-Apsaros Fortress, which is on the same road and served by the same coastal transport.
