Where to see Batumi from above: Argo or Sameba
Argo shows Batumi from close to the port: the old quarters, harbour, and coastline are easy to read. Its lower station on Bako Street is a 10–15 minute walk from Piazza, so it fits naturally into a day in the centre.
The viewpoint by Sameba Church is higher and farther outside the city. Batumi appears as a whole against the sea and mountains, but public transport is impractical. Travel by car or taxi and arrange the return in advance, as an available car may be hard to find on the hill in the evening. Do not force both viewpoints into one route: they offer related panoramas but need different logistics. Choose Argo for the cable-car experience and central location; choose Sameba for greater height and open space.
