Spend a day in Mtirala’s Colchic rainforest

Mtirala is a full-day trip into Colchic rainforest. Trails begin at the visitor centre in Chakvistavi and lead toward a waterfall, lake, and higher parts of the park. Choose the route after speaking to staff: trail conditions after heavy rain matter more than a plan made in advance.

The visitor centre is about 28 km from Batumi, but the narrow final mountain road makes the drive 1–1.5 hours. There is no convenient direct public transport. Hire a car with waiting time or agree on a return pickup before arriving; ordering a new taxi from the park can be difficult. Use the pin Mtirala National Park Visitor Centre, Chakvistavi, not the park’s general map area. Short routes take several hours, longer ones need the full daylight period, and mobile coverage is unreliable on the trails.
