A day trip to Makhuntseti Waterfall and Queen Tamar Bridge
Makhuntseti works best as a pair of stops: the waterfall first, then Queen Tamar’s stone arch bridge across the Ajaristsqali. They are close but not in the same spot, so save both map pins; the bridge is easy to miss behind the roadside stalls. Allow about 1.5–2 hours there.
From Batumi, the simplest option is a car or taxi on the Keda road, usually 50–75 minutes. For a cheaper trip, take a marshrutka toward Keda from the old bus station, show the driver Makhuntseti Waterfall, and ask where to board for the return. Marshrutkas do not have a convenient late-evening timetable, so plan this version for the first half of the day. Food, tastings, and cooking services near the waterfall may be charged separately; confirm the total before ordering.
