Visit the Navahrudak Mosque

Новогрудская мечеть

The local Tatar community received permission to build a mosque in Navahrudak in the late 18th century, and the surviving wooden building opened in 1855. Its compact form, hipped roof and small minaret recall the Lipka Tatars, who have lived in the lands of the former Grand Duchy of Lithuania for centuries. The mosque remains active today.

The exterior can be viewed easily from Lenin Street. Enter only when the mosque is open to visitors or after arranging a visit with the community. Dress modestly, remove shoes before the prayer hall, avoid prayer times and ask permission before taking photographs inside.
