Follow the Dostoevsky family trail in Dastojeva

Сядзіба, Дастоева

The village of Dastojeva gave the Dostoevsky family its name and was once home to ancestors of Fyodor Dostoevsky. The manor itself has been lost, so this is not a trip to see a surviving palace. A realistic visit combines the Dostoevsky museum at the local school, the writer's monument and the memorial marker at the former family estate.

The school museum does not operate like a conventional attraction with unrestricted daily entry, so arrange a visit in advance. Approach the former estate only by an accessible route and avoid private or agricultural land. Treat archival images of the house as the history of a lost site, not as a promise of what remains today.
