See the Mother Patriot Memorial

The Mother Patriot Memorial was unveiled on 29 August 1975. In the bronze composition, Anastasiya Kupriyanova stands apart as she watches her five sons leave for the front; none returned. The memorial connects one family's tragedy with the broader human cost of war.

The sculptors were Andrei Zaspitski and Ivan Misko, and the architect was Nikolai Ryzhankov. The nearby Kupriyanova House Museum is worth visiting as well, since the two places provide fuller context together.
