Visit Smarhon's First World War Memorial
The memorial complex opened on 1 August 2014 in memory of soldiers and civilians affected by the fighting around Smarhon in 1915–1917. The town stood near the front line for more than two years and was almost entirely destroyed.
Follow the sequence of sculptural groups dedicated to refugees, soldiers and military remembrance, then continue to the memory zone with its battle map, memorial urns and chapel. The site is outdoors; allow about an hour for an unhurried visit.
