Idea
See the Rechytsa hillfort
The Rechytsa hillfort occupies a small promontory on the right bank of the Dnieper, near the mouth of the river that gave the city its name. A medieval citadel stood here, followed by a wooden castle built under Vytautas in the fourteenth century.
No towers or castle buildings survive, so the value lies in the shape of the site and its position above the river. Allow 20–40 minutes, then continue along the embankment towards the Chapel of Saint Euphrosyne of Polotsk.
