Fairytale: Film Screening with Alexander Sokurov
Alexander Sokurov presents his film Fairytale and answers questions from the audience after the screening. The discussion is moderated by film director and producer Rezo Gigineishvili.
The film premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in 2022 and was banned from theatrical release in Russia. Set in purgatory, it brings Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, and Churchill together as ghostly figures, reflecting on the violence and vanity of the 20th century and its continuing presence in the modern world.
The film is presented in its original languages—German, Italian, Georgian, French, and English—with Russian subtitles. Runtime: 78 minutes. Age rating: 18+. Doors open and the event begins at 19:00 on 7 October at Cavea City Mall.
