Cinema Club in the Auditorium: Screening and Discussion of the Film "Sing Sing" (Greg Kwedar, 2023)

We invite you to watch one of the most notable dramas of recent years — "Sing Sing," a film by Greg Kwedar, nominated for an Oscar.

The story centers on participants of a theater program in Sing Sing prison. They rehearse plays, create new productions, and perform them in a space where their prisoner status is secondary.

When a new member, Divine Ai, joins the troupe, rehearsals become more than just a way to pass time; they offer the characters a chance to rediscover their relationships with themselves and others.

The film's story is based on a real theater program existing in Sing Sing prison.

After the screening, there will be a discussion about the film and a conversation about Greg Kwedar's direction, the blend of documentary and fiction cinema, working with real participants, and how the film conveys an invitation to a drama tour.
