Boundaries — Book Presentation by Natalia Beskhlebnaya

Mon, Aug 24 · 19:30 Auditoria

A boy lived in a house with an arch and befriended it. Passing "through the house" became a daily ritual, and the arch symbolized a protected space where he could be himself without any embarrassment.

But one day, his mother said they had to leave.

This is how "Boundaries" begins — a book by journalist and poet Natalia Beskhlebnaya, published by Samokat. The book is illustrated by Anastasia Novozhilova — her delicate artwork balances between reality and dream. The story is intended for preschool and early school children, but as often happens with good children's books, it has a dual audience and is equally interesting for adults.

— Personal and state boundaries: how a child experiences what adults call politics
— The child's inner world in transition: what happens to attachment to a place when the place is left behind
— Emigration and its emotional acceptance — how to talk about it with children without diminishing or frightening them
— Intangible baggage: what helps cope with the stress of departure
— Hope for return versus new prospects — is it necessary to choose between them?

The meeting will be held in a discussion format: we especially look forward to questions from the audience, particularly from parents going through this experience with their children.
