Summer Route through Lori Region
Where to go in summer? To the Lori region — for coolness, ancient monasteries, and some of the most beautiful roads in Armenia.
If it's hot in Yerevan, it's the perfect time to head north. Even in summer, temperatures rarely exceed +25 °C here, and the green forests, deep gorges, and old monasteries make the trip especially atmospheric.
What is worth seeing along the way?
- Lori Berd — ruins of a medieval fortress that was once the capital of an entire kingdom.
- Stepanavan — a cozy mountain town and the Sochut Dendropark, where it's pleasant to walk even on the hottest day.
- Debed Canyon — one of the most beautiful places in Armenia with the Akhtala and Sanahin monasteries, both UNESCO-listed.
- Kobayr Monastery — an ancient complex hidden among rocks, where medieval frescoes are still preserved.
- Odzun — an old village with a 6th-century church that has stood here for nearly one and a half thousand years.
