When we think of ancient board games, chess, checkers, or backgammon usually come to mind. But the medieval world was far richer in gaming variety — people played dozens of different games, many of which are now forgotten.

Lecturer Pavel Kolosnitsyn will explain what games medieval people played, how board games spread, and why they were an important part of daily life.

You will learn how archaeologists discover ancient game boards and pieces, and how reconstructing the rules of played games helps us understand life in the past.
