Kinto: Musical Comedy
Experience “Kinto,” a vibrant musical interpretation of Akaki Tsereteli’s classic comedy, live on the Small Stage at Shota Rustaveli National Theatre. Composer Nunu Gabunia, staging by Gocha Kapanadze, and musical direction from Nika Nikvashvili bring this entertaining story to life, with Basa Janikashvili adapting the libretto. The show is visually striking thanks to production designer Lomgul Murusidze and costume designers Eka Javakhishvili and Keti Tsitsishvili, with choreography by Bachana Chanturia. Technical direction is handled by Marina Amaglobeli. Starring the celebrated Tamar Gverdtsiteli, the cast also includes Ninutsa Bediashvili, Marina Kakhiani, Davit Kvirtskhalia, Kakha Kupatadze, Eka Mindiashvili, Niko Nanitashvili, Lasha Ramishvili, Nanuli Sarajishvili, Yuri Popkhadze, and Badri Chikhiashvili. The story follows Salome, who, faced with her husband Ilia’s wish to end their marriage—egged on by his friend Samson, secretly in love with her—devises a scheme to win him back. Salome disguises herself as a kinto to make Ilia jealous. Comedy and misunderstandings ensue until Ilia realizes he’s been fooled, understands his mistake, and recommits to Salome. Their bond strengthens, while Samson is ousted from their lives. “Kinto” explores themes of love, loyalty, and the opportunity for second chances. Don’t miss this 100-minute journey filled with music, humor, and emotion, suitable for audiences aged 8 and up. Performances: April 2 & 3, 20:00, on the Small Stage of the Rustaveli National Theatre.
