The Legacy of Riho Ensemble
Founded in the 1920s by Ivane Margiani, the Mestia-based "Riho" folklore ensemble has traveled from the Svanetian mountains to Europe, sharing Georgia's ancient folk songs and dances. From their debut at Tbilisi’s Opera Theatre and tours across the Soviet Union, to celebrated performances in Paris, Berlin, Brussels, and Warsaw, Riho has been recognized both at home and abroad. Over the decades, the ensemble has preserved Svan and Georgian traditions, earning numerous awards at national festivals including 'Best Folklore Ensemble' in Georgia's 2015-2016 Festival. Their mission remains: to safeguard and share traditional music with new generations. Join the concert at the Mestia Culture and Art Center, March 7. Duration: 1 hour. Ticket includes a glass of wine.
