Riho: Centuries of Tradition

Sun, Mar 8 · 20:00 Mestia Culture and Art Center

The Riho Ensemble, a pillar of Svaneti’s cultural heritage since the 1920s, was established by Ivane Margiani and later led by renowned figures like Alexey Filfan and Islam (Eftime). Gathering talented singers from villages across Upper Svaneti, Riho preserves regional folk music and dances. Their performances, recognized at home and abroad, have included acclaimed tours across the Soviet Union, France, Germany, Belgium, and Poland, often earning standing ovations and accolades—as well as first prize at Georgia’s National Folklore Festival in 2016. Riho’s extensive repertoire blends time-honored Svan songs with folk classics from all over Georgia. Their mission: to sustain these age-old traditions and inspire new generations. Join them for a vibrant 1-hour concert at Mestia Culture and Art Center on March 8. Each ticket comes with a complimentary cup of wine.
