Xilva

Sun, Mar 22 · 20:00 Theatre On Atoneli

Xilva reimagines Euripides’ “Iphigenia at Aulis” to depict a society overwhelmed by crisis, where fear overtakes reason and individuals succumb to the forces that dictate belief and behavior. With writing by Lasha Bughadze and direction from Salome Joglidze, this production infuses dark humor and irony to challenge our understanding of classical tragedy, refusing the catharsis often expected. The cast includes Davit Beshitaishvili, Baia Dvalishvili, Salome Maisashvili, Baia Kereselidze, and Luka Japaridze. Music by Ana Zakareishvili, artistry by Ketevan Nadibaidze. Rather than providing clear answers, Xilva invites the audience to reflect on their role in times of collective uncertainty and manipulation. Performances are at Theatre On Atoneli on March 21 and 22, 2026. Supported by the Civil Society Foundation, City Hall Department of Culture, and Dressup.ge. Duration: 90 minutes.
