The Conductor

Wed, Mar 11 · 20:00 Theatre Factory 42

Step into post-war Nuremberg, 1946: Dr. Furtwängler, legendary chief conductor, faces tough questions about morality and legacy. In Ronald Harwood’s striking drama, Debora Arnold interrogates Furtwängler, asking if great art can truly exist apart from political choices. Intense dialogues, historical themes, and searching questions challenge audiences: Can music liberate the soul, or are we always bound by the times we live in? This production, translated by Guram Ghonghadze and directed by Levan Tsuladze, features impressive stagecraft, evocative costumes by Nino Surguladze, choreography by Tinatin Tsuladze, and music adapted by Zurab Gagloshvili. Watch on 22 February or 11 March, both with English subtitles, at Theatre Factory 42 (Tsereteli 114, Didube). Performance starts at 20:00. Duration: 115 minutes (one intermission). Cast includes Manana Kozakova as Debora Arnold and Gia Roinishvili as Dr. Furtwängler. Theatre Factory 42 is an independent venue fostering creative innovation in Tbilisi’s cultural scene.
