Alfred and Violetta

Tue, Jul 14 · 19:00 Gabriadze Theatre

The history of Rezo Gabriadze Marionette theatre began in 1981 with the play “Alfred and Violetta,” where the eternal love story, well-known thanks to the novel by Alexandre Dumas fils “La Dame aux Camélias” and the opera by Giuseppe Verdi “La Traviata”, was given a completely new artistic life by Rezo Gabriadze. After a long interval, the play returned to the stage of Gabriadze Theatre, but in a new form. During the year before his death, Rezo Gabriadze almost completely rewrote and renewed the play. The initial plan was finalized by the artistic director of the theatre, Leo Gabriadze, who is the director of this new performance. The play is set in Tbilisi’s Mtatsminda District, as well as in Milan, Khashuri, Rome, Abastumani, Venice and Dighomi. This time, the story of Alfred and Violetta takes place during the dramatic events that occurred in Tbilisi in the 1990s, and their love will have to overcome numerous obstacles… Performance Duration: 75 Minutes Before the performance, you are invited to unwind at the bar "Ar Idardo", located in the theatre lobby, opening at 18:00 exclusively for ticket holders. Age Restriction: Children under 12 are not admitted. Punctuality: Latecomers will not be admitted once the show begins, as we value the shared focus of the audience in our intimate theatre, to preserve the magical atmosphere.
