Alfred and Violetta
Experience the timeless love story of Alfred and Violetta, reimagined by Rezo Gabriadze, founder of the Gabriadze Marionette Theatre. Originally premiered in 1981, this beloved play draws inspiration from Alexandre Dumas fils' novel 'La Dame aux Camélias' and Verdi's opera 'La Traviata.' Shortly before his passing, Gabriadze extensively rewrote the play, which was then completed and directed by Leo Gabriadze. Set across various locations including Tbilisi's Mtatsminda district, Milan, Rome, and Venice, the narrative unfolds amid the dramatic events of 1990s Tbilisi. This fresh adaptation explores the enduring love of Alfred and Violetta as they face numerous challenges. The intimate 75-minute performance is held at Gabriadze Theatre, with a welcoming bar 'Ar Idardo' opening an hour before the show exclusively for ticket holders. Please note, children under 12 are not admitted, and latecomers cannot enter after the performance begins to maintain the magical atmosphere.
