Georgia's Christian Heritage 1700

Wed, Jun 3 · 20:00 Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre

In 2026, Georgia marks the 1700th anniversary of adopting Christianity as its state religion, a milestone linked to St. Nino's arrival and the cultural-political evolution of Iberia. The project "Georgia as a Christian State - 1700" features a series of classical music concerts at the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre. Performances include works by Mahler, Tchaikovsky, Verdi, Ravel, Beethoven, Mozart, Sulkhan Nasidze, and Zviad Bolkvadze. The Festival Orchestra, Trinity Cathedral/Patriarchate/Georgian State Chamber Choir, along with guest international musicians, will perform under the artistic direction of Svimon Jangulashvili and Zviad Bolkvadze. The program highlights Georgian choral music and Mahler's Symphony No. 10 (Derrick Cooke's edition). Suitable for ages 10 and up.
