Vivaldi’s Ottone in Villa

Thu, Mar 5 · 19:30 Rustaveli National Theatre - Small Stage

The Tbilisi State Chamber Orchestra, Georgian Sinfonietta, presents an authentic staging of Antonio Vivaldi’s first opera, 'Ottone in Villa,' at the Rustaveli National Theatre - Small Stage, on March 3, 5, 6, and 8, 2026. This marks the opera’s Georgian debut, supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tbilisi City Hall. The Small Stage was chosen for its resemblance to the original Vicenza theater where the opera premiered in 1713, creating a historically rich Baroque experience. Performed on period instruments, the cast features Maximiliano Danta (Ottone), Paola Valentina Molinari (Cleonila), Tamar Tsirekidze (Caio), Fabiana Visentin (Tullia), and Matteo Straffi (Decio), led by director Ilaria Sainato and assistant Tata Popiashvili. The production brings together outstanding Georgian talents and international Baroque specialists, including Sergio Azzolini (bassoon), Diego Cantalupi (theorbo, guitar), Gabriele Levi (harpsichord), Giuseppe Falciglia and Clément Diez (oboes/flutes), and Sophie Lamberbourg (cello). Age restrictions and ticket prices apply. Don’t miss this major cultural event.
