The Promised Land Premiere

Wed, May 13 · 20:00 Sokhumi State Drama Theatre

Sokhumi State Drama Theatre announces the premiere of 'The Promised Land.' Inspired by Tennessee Williams’ 'A Streetcar Named Desire,' the play offers a poignant tale of two sisters, Sophie and Helen, who are separated by the political turmoil in their homeland, France. Rather than focusing on historical facts, the drama explores the personal impact of war—how it transforms individuals, reshapes daily life, and alters relationships. Adapted and directed by Aleksandre Kantaria, with direction also by Beka Kavtaradze, the production features technical direction by Svetlana Gogokhia and scenography by Paata Mdzinarashvili. The cast includes Lili Khuriti, Nana Khuriti, Roland Okropiridze, Davit Beradze, Kristine Chkhikvadze, and Beka Kavtaradze. Performances take place on May 13, 14, and 15, 2026. Ticket price: 25 GEL. Age 16+.
