Marshal de Fantie’s Diamond

Set in 19th-century Tbilisi, a festive wedding on the Mtkvari river is thrown into chaos by an unexpected arrival. General Vano Phantiashvili receives two telegrams from France—the first bringing sad news of Marshal de Fantie’s death, the second naming the general as heir to the world’s largest diamond, Monte Rosa. Thus begins a comic journey as the general and his friends—Khecho, Zippo, Porpile, and famed matchmaker Khanuma—set their sights on Paris. Along the way, adventure and intrigue abound as each character faces amusing turns of fate. What could persuade an experienced war veteran to renounce such a treasure?
