Alfred and Violetta at Gabriadze Theatre

Sat, Jun 27 · 19:00 Gabriadze Theatre

The puppet theatre history of Rezo Gabriadze began in 1981 with "Alfred and Violetta," a fresh artistic take on the eternal love story known from Alexandre Dumas fils' novel "La Dame aux Camélias" and Verdi's opera "La Traviata." After a long hiatus, the play returns to Gabriadze Theatre in a new form. Before his death, Rezo Gabriadze almost completely rewrote the play, finalized by artistic director Leo Gabriadze, who also directs this production. The story unfolds in various locations including Tbilisi's Mtatsminda District, Milan, Khashuri, Rome, Abastumani, Venice, and Dighomi, set during the dramatic events of 1990s Tbilisi. Alfred and Violetta's love faces many obstacles. The performance lasts 75 minutes. Children under 12 are not admitted. Latecomers will not be admitted after the show starts to preserve the intimate atmosphere. Ticket holders can enjoy the "Ar Idardo" bar in the theatre lobby from 18:00 before the show.
