Alfred and Violetta - Gabriadze Theatre Performance

Fri, Jun 26 · 19:00 Gabriadze Theatre

The puppet theatre tradition of Rezo Gabriadze continues with "Alfred and Violetta," a play first staged in 1981 and recently rewritten by Gabriadze before his passing. This new version, directed by Leo Gabriadze, brings the timeless love story inspired by Alexandre Dumas fils' novel and Verdi's opera into the context of 1990s Tbilisi and other locations including Milan, Rome, and Venice. The narrative follows Alfred and Violetta as their love faces challenges amid dramatic historical events. The performance lasts 75 minutes and is held at the Gabriadze Theatre. Audience members are invited to relax at the "Ar Idardo" bar in the theatre lobby before the show. Note that children under 12 are not admitted and latecomers will not be allowed entry after the performance begins to maintain the intimate atmosphere.
