Alfred and Violetta - Gabriadze Theatre Performance

Fri, Jun 26 · 19:00 Gabriadze Theatre

The puppet theatre tradition of Rezo Gabriadze began in 1981 with "Alfred and Violetta," a fresh artistic take on the timeless love story known from Alexandre Dumas fils' novel and Verdi's opera. After a long hiatus, the play returns to the Gabriadze Theatre stage in a new form, rewritten and renewed by Rezo Gabriadze shortly before his death and finalized by artistic director Leo Gabriadze. The story unfolds across locations including Tbilisi's Mtatsminda District, Milan, Khashuri, Rome, Abastumani, Venice, and Dighomi, set during the dramatic events in 1990s Tbilisi. The lovers face many obstacles in their quest for love. The performance lasts 75 minutes. Ticket holders can enjoy the "Ar Idardo" bar in the theatre lobby from 18:00 before the show. Children under 12 are not admitted. Latecomers will not be admitted after the show begins to preserve the intimate atmosphere.
