Alfred and Violetta - Gabriadze Theatre Performance

Thu, Jun 18 · 19:00 Gabriadze Theatre

The history of the Rezo Gabriadze Marionette Theatre began in 1981 with the play 'Alfred and Violetta,' inspired by Alexandre Dumas fils' novel and Verdi's opera. This timeless love story has been artistically reimagined by Rezo Gabriadze and, shortly before his death, almost completely rewritten and renewed. Directed by Leo Gabriadze, the play unfolds across locations including Tbilisi's Mtatsminda District, Milan, Khashuri, Rome, Abastumani, Venice, and Dighomi. Set against the dramatic backdrop of 1990s Tbilisi, Alfred and Violetta's love faces many challenges. The performance lasts 75 minutes. Audience members are invited to relax at the 'Ar Idardo' bar in the theatre lobby from 18:00 before the show. Note that children under 12 are not admitted, and latecomers will not be allowed entry after the performance starts to maintain the intimate atmosphere.
