Archaeological Tour: From 8,000-Year-Old Wine to the First Europeans
Experience a unique archaeological journey led by Giorgi Bidzinashvili, head of the Orozmani International Expedition, covering 1.8 million years of human history in Georgia. The tour visits significant sites such as Gadachrili Gora, the birthplace of wine, the medieval city of Dmanisi with its 12th-century wine cellar, and ongoing excavations at Dmanisi and Orozmani revealing early European ancestors. Explore the Bronze Age Kurgan culture of Kvemo Kartli and learn about ancient social and ritual traditions. Designed for adults interested in scientific methodology, the tour includes expert lectures, transportation, museum entries, and a dinner featuring authentic regional flavors. Runs Saturdays and Sundays from May to June and resumes in October. Languages offered are Georgian and English. Meeting point is near the Giant Bicycle Monument in Tbilisi.
