From 8,000-Year-Old Wine to the First Europeans: Author’s Archaeological Tour with Giorgi Bidzinashvili. Do you want to experience the authentic process of scientific discovery? We invite you to a professional archaeological journey led by Giorgi Bidzinashvili, head of the Orozmani International Expedition. This program spans 1.8 million years of history and integrates key stages of human development. Our route is strictly based on the latest scientific research and aims to provide participants with an in-depth understanding of Georgia’s diverse cultural heritage. During the journey, we will visit several of the most significant archaeological sites: The Birth of Wine: Gadachrili Gora - the site where archaeological and paleobotanical evidence officially recognized Georgia as the homeland of wine. Here, you will explore the traces of Neolithic farming and early viticulture. A Continuous Tradition: The medieval city of Dmanisi and its unique 12th-century wine cellar, which confirms the long-standing cultural tradition and genetic connection of winemaking in the region. The First Europeans: The archaeological sites of Dmanisi and Orozmani. You will observe ongoing excavations firsthand, in the very environment where world-class paleoanthropological discoveries are recorded. The Field of Kurgans: The Bronze Age Kurgan culture of Kvemo Kartli, where we will discuss the social structures and ritual traditions of ancient tribes. This tour is specifically designed for those interested in scientific methodology and wishing to observe the archaeological process at a professional level. You will learn about the research standards maintained by our international partner universities. The culinary highlight of the tour features a restaurant dinner, offering a synthesis of authentic flavors from Kvemo Kartli and Svaneti.
