Born in Odessa, pianist and conductor Boris Bloch has long been regarded as one of the foremost interpreters of Classical and Romantic piano repertoire. Marcel Reich-Ranicki, one of the most influential literary critics of his time, described him as “a tempestuous poet at the piano, a connoisseur of rhythms in both music and language.” Bloch studied at Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Conservatory under the renowned pianists and pedagogues Dmitri Bashkirov and Tatyana Nikolayeva. He is a prizewinner of major international competitions, including the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition and the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition. His concert career encompasses both solo performances and appearances with leading orchestras and conductors worldwide.
