Alfred and Violetta
Opening Gabriadze Puppet Theatre’s history in 1981, “Alfred and Violetta” reshapes the timeless love story made famous by Dumas fils and Verdi through the bold creativity of Rezo Gabriadze. In his final year, Gabriadze dramatically reworked the production, finalized and directed by Leo Gabriadze. This fresh version moves between Tbilisi’s Mtatsminda and European cities, placing Alfred and Violetta’s romance amid the upheaval of 1990s Georgia and the challenges their love must overcome. The performance runs for 75 minutes at Gabriadze Theatre (Mazniashvili 13). Admission is for ages 12 and up. Ticket holders can relax at the 'Ar Idardo' bar in the theatre’s lobby from 18:00. To preserve the enchantment of the intimate space, late arrivals will not be admitted.
