Alfred and Violetta

Sat, Mar 7 · 19:00 Gabriadze Theatre

At Gabriadze Marionette Theatre, Alfred and Violetta returns with a bold new vision. Originally created in 1981 by the legendary Rezo Gabriadze, this play draws inspiration from Dumas’ classic novel and Verdi’s opera, transforming the love story into something uniquely Georgian. Shortly before his passing, Rezo Gabriadze revisited and significantly altered the play; it was then shaped into its current form by artistic director Leo Gabriadze. This production transports the tale to 1990s Tbilisi, while also journeying through cities like Milan, Khashuri, Rome, Abastumani, Venice, and Dighomi. Audiences will experience a love striving to endure against the dramatic backdrop of a turbulent era. The performance lasts 75 minutes. Only guests 12 and older are admitted. Prior to the show, ticket holders may relax at the 'Ar Idardo' bar in the theatre lobby from 18:00 (open to all guests from 8:30 p.m.). Please be punctual, as late arrivals cannot be seated after the start, preserving the theatre’s intimate atmosphere. Tickets can be purchased for selected dates between February 26 and March 31, 2026, at Gabriadze Theatre.
